North of Santa Fe: TesuqueHeading north from the Plaza toward the Santa Fe Opera, it doesn't take long to find Tesuque, a small town that began as an artist village because of its inexpensive property. It is now popular with the back to nature lifestyle for the wealthy and is surrounded by great hikes. There are both grand estate-type homes here and smaller, more modest places with real estate prices running a diverse gammet from $175,000 to 2,000,000 plus. The Tesuque Village Market is the commerical hub of the village, reminiscent of an old world trading post and a place where locals hang out and eat good grub. If you don't stay in Tesuque, the market is worth a stop for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. This is a good place to find vacation rentals if you want to be slightly outside of town but enjoy a village-like setting. Prices will vary widely, depending on property.
