Santa Fe's Eastside Neighborhoods
The Acequia Madre Neighborhood
Casa De Alma is located in the Eastside's historic Acequia Madre neighborhood, also known as the historic arts district. This neighborhood is positioned just south of Canyon Road and is considered the most prestigious, quaint, and rustic in all of Santa Fe. On Christmas Eve each year, the entire 1-mile square neighborhood, including Canyon Road, is closed to cars and about 25,000 people take to the streets singing carols, enjoying thousands of candle-lit farolitas, and warming themselves by bonfires. The neighborhood is filled with 100-year-old authentic adobe homes, surrounded by beautiful walls, gardens, and trees. It has some of the highest priced real estate in Santa Fe. Vacation homes in this neighborhood are priced at the top of the rental market.
Canyon Road -- The Historic Center of the Eastside
While bordered to the south by the lovely Acequia Madre residential neighborhood, Canyon Road is a center of the international art scene, second only to New York, Los Angeles, and Paris. The main street houses the region's top galleries, including more than 100 galleries and artist studios. The studios were homes to Spanish settlers as far back as the 1750's and were transformed in the early 20th century to become the center of the Santa Fe arts scene. There are a few vacation rentals on or near the alley ways of Canyon Road. Rentals here will be very expensive, similar to the Acequia Madre neighborhood.
